How it plays
Multiplayer runs the full strategy game, with friends as rivals or as one team against AI civilizations, and a game can be saved and picked up again over several evenings.
A full game takes many hours, so smaller maps and turn timers help.
PC takes up to 12 players online, over LAN or in hotseat turns at one computer.
PlayStation and Xbox take up to four players online, and the Switch plays only by local wireless, one console per player.
